چکیده

An observation sensitivity method to identify targeted observations is implemented in the context of four dimensional variational (4D-Var) data assimilation. This methodology is compared with the well-established adjoint sensitivity method using a nonlinear Burgers equation as a test model. Automatic differentiation software is used to implement the first order adjoint model to calculate the gradient of the cost function required the 4D-Var minimization algorithm and adjoint sensitivity computations and the second order adjoint model to obtain the Hessian matrix of the 4D-Var cost required in the observation sensitivity computations. Numerical results indicate that the observation-

On the effect of low-quality node observation on learning over incremental adaptive networks

In this paper, we study the impact of low-quality node on the performance of incremental least mean square (ILMS) adaptive networks. Adaptive networks involve many nodes with adaptation and learning capabilities. Low-quality mode in the performance of a node in a practical sensor network is modeled by the observation of pure noise (its observation noise) that leads to an unreliable measurement....

A Novel Robust Adaptive Trajectory Tracking in Robot Manipulators

In this paper, a novel adaptive sliding mode control for rigid robot manipulators is proposed. In the proposed system, since there may exist explicit unknown parameters and perturbations, a Lyapunov based approach is presented to increase system robustness, even in presence of arbitrarily large (but not infinite) discontinuous perturbations. To control and track the robot, a continuous controll...

Block-Based Compressive Sensing Using Soft Thresholding of Adaptive Transform Coefficients

Compressive sampling (CS) is a new technique for simultaneous sampling and compression of signals in which the sampling rate can be very small under certain conditions. Due to the limited number of samples, image reconstruction based on CS samples is a challenging task. Most of the existing CS image reconstruction methods have a high computational complexity as they are applied on the entire im...

An Efficient Adaptive Optimization Scheme

Adaptive optimization schemes based on stochastic approximation principles such as the Random Directions Kiefer-Wolfowitz (RDKW), the Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation (SPSA) and the Adaptive Fine-Tuning (AFT) algorithms possess the serious disadvantage of not guaranteeing efficient transient behaviour due to their requirement for using random or random-like perturbations of th...

Effect of daily life executive functions training on symptoms and adaptive skills in children with attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neuro-developmental disorder which was diagnosed by three features including: attention deficit, hyperactivity and impulsivity. This study aimed to determine the effect of executive function training based on daily life on reducing symptoms and improving adaptive skills in children with ADHD. 16 children aged 7-10 years old with ADHD were sel...
